March 2022 Monthly Blogging Goals & Blog Income Report

February was a really rough month for me.

Very rough.

The job I started in November takes a lot of my time and energy and renders me pretty useless with my creativity.

I essentially did nothing this month, as you’ll see below, and I’m feeling a sense of defeat. But, there is always a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. And with St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, I’m hoping to find that pot overflowing.

My partner (even my co-workers) say I’m an unrealistic optimist, and I know that I am, it’s what keeps me going.

First Year Blog Report

Overview: I’m well into my second year of blogging and I’m just not making the money I thought I unrealistically optimistically hoped for. 😂 These blog goal reports are meant to do a number of things – 

• Accountability
• The analysis of patterns to see what is/isn’t working and how to improve
• My time is limited with other business ventures and I’m taking courses to improve my career situation outside of lemonade + adventure.

February Goals Recap:

1. Finish 3 posts.  [✖]

I finished 1. This was the worst month on record since I have started lemonade + adventure. I acknowledge my failings and I hope that it doesn’t happen again.

I did start a lot of WIP (work in progress) posts this month (*cough* five) though but never got around to finishing them. With work being the way that it is, I’m struggling to get through the creative brain fog and create valuable posts for my audience.

My foreseen roadblock last month was being forthright that after months of high productivity, I drop in productivity the month after. I was right, but I also think it was a self-fulfilling prophecy, so I won’t ever say it aloud again.

February Posts

2. Finish SSSEO. [✖]

I don’t know what it is about this program, but I just can’t seem to finish it. I didn’t get the chance to even look at it this month. This month I was burned out and that’s the ugly truth of it all.

3. Focus on a lead magnet. [✔]

Strangely enough, I did focus on lead magnets this month. I’m trying to make sure that they’re in tip-top shape so that I can post them and/or sell them here as they’re full of a lot of information. I’m glad for it though, I did the thing.

Current Income

This month’s income could be summed up at the same rate as last month – abysmal.

I laugh because lol of course it was.

My third paycheck from Amazon was for $28.81. This paycheck was commissioned from December 2021 (which was already accounted for in my December 2021 report).

December was the highest amount in Amazon pay thus far, mainly because of Q4 Christmas sales (yay!) and so this was expected.

Here’s the breakdown for the other income sources:

Ad Income: $2.56

Amazon Associates: $0.58 🙃

LTK: $0

Skimlinks: $14.16. I’m actually really surprised by this; I haven’t checked any of the income numbers until today and to see that Skimlinks did well is awesome.

Total February Income: $17.13 (doesn’t include the Amazon paycheck)

If you’re at the early stages of growing a blog, please know that things will get better. I don’t know if this is where my blog gets better, but wherever it goes from here month-to-month is indicative of growth and perseverance.

Foreseen Roadblocks

I see nothing happening. 

Posts

I’d like to complete 3 posts. I do have quite a bit of WIP (work-in-progress) posts in my arsenal so I’m going to try and finish them and have reserves for months when I don’t do so well content-wise (like this month, lol).

SEO + Social Media

I’m actually going to take a back seat from freaking out over SEO. I’m simply going to perfect what I have learned and understood from SEO teachers without feeling like it’s necessary for me to learn more. Sure, I’ll review my notes this month on anything that I feel like I need to brush up on, but nope, no more SEO for meeee!

Social media aside, I’m still not doing anything with it. You can follow me on Instagram though @lemonadeandadventure because why not. 😂 I’ll be there later once the blog grows.

Affiliate Marketing

This feels like such a sad blogging goals report, but you know what? I’m OK with it, dude. 

I’m not stressing over Affiliate Marketing. Maybe a post? Again, I’m gonna keep it lowkey and chill.

Email Marketing (+ Subscribers)

I’d like to work on perfecting my lead magnet and getting that into the hands of my readers (hi!).  I’m actually quite scared about whether or not this will work, but I can’t be scared of my shadow – I’ll just do it and hope it all works out, too.

Update Posts

I actually spoke with a friend of mine who is an SEO/Content Marketing Expert and she recommended I update some posts. SO. I. WILL.

General Plan

The TL;DR version –

I’m keeping things hella lowkey, not even gonna worry too much this month. After the lack of content (and writing this so late), I’m going to take a break from trying to create when my brain just doesn’t want to.

2. Perfecting a lead magnet.
3. Update a post.

I Am Growing and Learning Everyday

Gworl, this is a whole struggle and a half. But I will get there with all the knowledge that I have learned and if you’re with me in this you will, too, sis.
