With August in our rearview mirrors (and Summer winding down with it), it’s time to shift into another post of Monthly Blog Goals.
As an overview, August didn’t go as well as I had planned, however, I did try my best to catch up whenever I could. Did that work? Not really, but I’m happy with what I was capable of doing.
Did I do a lot?
Not in the slightest.
I won’t beat myself up … not too much anyway. ♪~ ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ
In the same fashion as August’s goals, I’m writing down what I expect to get done in September, and in addition, what I’d like to change going forward.
For those new here, here’s why I started this series:
- Accountability.
- Analyzing patterns so I can see what works and what doesn’t.
- I have other businesses and a Project Management course I’m simultaneously starting/taking and need to use my time better.
These reasons haven’t changed. What has changed since writing August’s Monthly Goals is my time has dwindled and it will continue to dwindle when I get back into the workforce again (yes, I’m currently unemployed, but that’s another story for another day honestly).
Alrighty, here goes nothing!
Table of Adventures
How August Went
My main goals for August were:
- 2 posts weekly with at least one new pin for each (total of 8) [✖]
I only happened to do 4 posts for all of August (sans this one). My foreseen roadblock of going to Florida happened, but in a more unexpected way.
What was supposed to be a one-week trip turned into a two-week trip because my brother and his family made the impromptu decision to drive down the day my boyfriend and I would’ve left.
Thankfully my boyfriend works from home and it was an easy decision to make. So, we stayed.
It was great though because I got to take my nephew, mom, and brother (and I’ll include my sister-in-law, too, since she hadn’t been since she was 8) to Disney World for the very first time that week.
So while I didn’t get much done before the trip or even really during, I had a lot of quality family time that I was grateful for.

- “Update pins” on Pinterest with a new pin to an older post [✔]
I was able to update a few pins on Pinterest to an older post.
Since Fall is right around the corner, I decided to focus on my fall posts.
9 Cozy Fall Home Essentials (Pin)

50 Fun Things to Do for Halloween (Pin)
I didn’t update one fall seasonal post but that’s not that big of a deal for me at the moment. I can always do it going into September. Also, towards the end of the month, I started placing the logo instead of writing out the URL mainly for aesthetics as I was inspired by By Sophia Lee to make the change.
We’ll see if that effects click-thru or not.
- Create posts ahead of time for the week I’ll be gone [✖]
I didn’t get around to doing this. I had a long list of possible posts to get out – one mainly having to do with my trip to Mexico in July – however the last few weeks were so busy helping my mom settle in that it was ‘nere impossible to get much done.
I did write one post while away though! 🥴
- Refresh knowledge on SEO + Pinterest [✔]
I’ll be honest.
I didn’t do as much of a refresh as I wanted to here at the beginning of the month, however, since getting back from Florida that’s what I’ve been diving headfirst into.
I think I have a much better handle on SEO and Pinterest now because I did the review. The nice thing was that I had written an extensive document on all the major points between the two topics months ago and so whatever I felt like I needed to go over I highlighted.
There’s the issue of not getting through the entire eight pages of reviewable notes for SEO, so, this was a half-fulfilled effort, but it was a great effort nonetheless.
There is a current update to Carly’s Pinterest course so I’ll definitely be looking over that next month as I never got around to it this month.
- Read through downloaded resources: Affiliate Marketing and Email Marketing [✖]
This didn’t happen.
I’m going to make a better push for it come next month as I’ll plot out my days a lot better this time around.
I did that earlier in Spring and I’m going to go back to using Pomodoro and getting in some of this coursework. I’ll knock it out in no time.
September
Foreseen Roadblocks
I don’t see very many roadblocks this month.
My mom has her birthday this month, but since she’s not in the same state like me it doesn’t really matter. I’ll call her on the day, giggle with her, and keep it moving.
Posts
I’d like to say the same goal as last month, however, I think I’m going to go with 5 posts this month. If I manage to make more then great. Otherwise, I’ll be content with making one more post than last month.
I really like the self-care and personal development kick I’m on. I’ll definitely continue that.
If I can manage to get out a Christmas post this month I’ll be elated!
SEO + Social Media
The plan this month is to get a better handle on SEO.
Review, review, review is the name of the game.
I have to check to see if Debbie has done an update on her course and if so I’ll have to write more notes. This leads me to Pinterest …
I did not check to see the update for Carly’s Pinterest course in August, therefore I will get to that during the first week of September so I don’t feel bogged down.
Just like last month, I’d like to make new pins for every new post and to update any pins on older posts that I can. I’ll be making three pins per post going forward, but that shouldn’t take me too much time considering I get pin templates delivered to me via Carly’s Pinterest Mastermind.
Again – still not worried about any other social media platform. I already have a lot to work with on Pinterest and Google alone and I want to have a better handle on those first.
Affiliate Links
Since I will be trying for a Christmas post I’m going to insert some affiliate links and hope that everything I learn this month from Tracie Fobes’ Affiliate Marketing Guide gets some clicks and purchases from readers.
Last month I failed on my attempt to get out one post with an affiliate link mainly because I didn’t want to just put a link just because – I want there to be a reason to put it inside of the post.
Unfortunately last month I didn’t work through the resources I wanted to so this month I’ll try my best to get them done. Those resources are Affiliate Superstar Toolkit 2.0 by Passive Income Superstars and Affiliate Marketing Strategies Guide by Tracie Fobes.
Email Subscribers
I attained no email subscribers last month (that’s cool) and I’m going to aim to understand email marketing a little this month to gain just one person on that list.
Update Posts
One thing I’d like to do is to update any upcoming seasonal posts like New Year’s and Valentine’s Day so these are a priority for Google to index them properly and ahead of time.
I may be able to even update my fall post with photos of my own so wish me luck on that (but it’s not a priority).
General Plan
The TL;DR (too long; didn’t read) version? Sure, why not. 😌
- Total of 5 posts this month with three new pins per post.
- “Update pins” on older posts for Pinterest.
- Check for updates on Carly’s Pinteresting Strategies and also on Debbie’s SEO bundle.
- Refresh knowledge on SEO.
- Read through resources for Affiliate and Email Marketing.
- Update upcoming seasonal posts – New Year and Valentine’s Day.
Here Goes Nothing Then!
I have a YouTuber I enjoy watching by the name of Raven Elyse. She divulged on her podcast recently that she made $1 million in the last year from everything she does on YouTube and it lit a fire under me.
If she can do it while taking care of a child I can definitely do it.
This month’s affirmation: “I don’t chase. I attract. What belongs to me will simply find me.”
