Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that can make you happy. Here’s a shortlist of easy to do feel good activities you can do just about anytime and anywhere.
There are times when I’m feeling so down about my circumstances. Whether that be because of something I can control or something that is out of my hands, knowing that I have an option to turn my day around keeps me going.
I tend to do a lot of sitting around when I’m feeling out of it, but when I move around? I really do feel a lot better. Plus, did you know that when you do something good for a few minutes it can snowball your day into something better? Or that it can help you to connect better with yourself and with others (heck, even places)?
No?
OK, maybe just me.
In that case, I wanted to share with you my little list of feel-good activities that get me through slumps or those times when I just would like a little pick-me-up.
- Taking a morning walk.
- Going on a solo movie date.
While doing a group movie date is fun, setting time aside to take yourself on a date can be incredibly fulfilling and eye-opening to what you like. Getting out of your comfort zone can be rewarding. 😉
- Window-shopping, online shopping, any … kind of shopping.
- Reading next to a roaring fire.
Grab a glass of wine (or your libation of choice), snuggle up with a good book, and just read until you fall asleep.
- Getting some hobby time.
I enjoy climbing. Whenever I need to get in a workout while being surrounded by people I adore, I go climbing. It takes a lot of pressure off my shoulders and gives me something to do while thinking less about the outside world and more about my technique.

- Laughing until your sides hurt.
You can check out YouTube or Tik Tok videos for examples of content that can give your body the endorphins they need. Set aside some time every day to find something funny. There’s seriously something out there for everyone, you’ve just gotta know where to find it.
- Go for a run without your phone.
If you’re overstimulated by music or background noise, taking a run to clear your mind while exercising can get your body and mind feeling great all at once.
- Watching the sunset and the sky turn dark to see the stars.
If you’re lucky enough to see the stars this is an easy thing to do. However, if you live in the city and are plagued by light pollution you can always watch a time-lapse video. While not as good, it can be close to being just as relaxing.
Or just watch the sunset and call it a night.
- Coloring.
Childish or not, whatever your take may be, coloring can be incredibly therapeutic. If you don’t have any coloring supplies head to your nearest dollar store, grab some crayons, print off one coloring page sheet, and live life again as a five-year-old. No one is watching.
- Play music with others.
I can’t play music very well. In fact, I was learning how to play the violin for around three years and couldn’t begin to tell you what any of the notes were on any string. But sometimes I play music with my friends in other ways.
They’ll teach me a few chords and I’ll help them create a song. If you’re lucky enough to have musically talented friends or family it’s an easy way to connect with them and give you something to do.
- Visit an animal shelter.
Shelters always need volunteer dog walkers and people to pet the cats. Check out your local shelter and see if you can help out every once in a while.
- Planning.
I am a sucker for planners. I own several Happy Planners and their subsequent sticker books, and they give me enough happiness to light up a Manhattan block.
- Sleeping (or napping).
- Organizing.
This doesn’t have to be crazy. Organizing your desk today can be rewarding and maybe tomorrow maybe you’re organizing a bathroom in your home. Do. What. Feels. Good!
- Lay outside in the grass and get some sun.
- Have a “do-nothing” time.
Self-explanatory, really. This is your moment to literally do nothing. Stare into the void if that’s what you need. Allow your body to relax and express itself however it needs. Whether it’s a good cry or otherwise, do absolutely nothing.
- Journaling.
- Listen to a Podcast.
I’ve been getting into podcasts lately. I know, I know, I’m a little late to the game, but it really isn’t my thing the way other media is. I have a few favorite podcasters if you’re in the market for someone new (I linked to Spotify, but you can find these podcasts practically anywhere).

Conclusion to Feel-Good Activities
If you haven’t noticed by now, feel-good activities don’t have to be extravagant. They can be as simple as resting your head and getting some shut-eye. You can watch YouTube videos on your favorite topics or it could be getting a tan.
Whatever it is, I hope your spirit is high and you have a great day, beautiful.
