I want to start something new with my blog.
Because I am trying hard to make this little corner of the internet work I want to make sure that I am keeping myself a little bit more accountable every month.
Therefore, I will start monthly blog goals and update you, and myself, on the goals I was able to accomplish every month.
Doing something like this is tantamount for a couple of reasons:
- Accountability.
- Analyzing patterns so I can see what works and what doesn’t.
- I have other businesses and a Project Management course I’m simultaneously starting/taking and need to use my time better.

Foreseen Roadblocks
I have a few roadblocks this week that I need to take into account (something I tried to do in July but failed miserably and that’s OK) this month.
My mom recently moved to Florida to the theme park capital of the world – Orlando. While I’m excited for her, we also need to go down and help her with her move as there are some items she left up here in her old home. Plus, she has a POD truck coming with her items in over a week so we’ll have to help her unpack all of that, too.
- So for an entire week we’ll be busy on a road trip and spending time with my mom.
My aunt is coming to the USA if UK residents are allowed to come over and she plans to come the literal week after leaving. Since I haven’t seen her in years the plan is to make my way down again before the month is up or move it to September. I don’t know yet.
- But if she does come in August then that’s a few days right there of travel and spending time with her and my cousins.
With these roadblocks, I’ll need to prepare blog posts ahead of time.
Posts
The most obvious thing for the month of August is working on posts.
In July, I went on vacation (post coming soon!) to Mexico for my birthday and I took some time to myself. So, I didn’t get in basically any of the posts I wanted to for the month. 😂
But for August, I plan to write 2 posts a week. I’m still figuring out what I really bring to the table as a content creator. But I’m slowly noticing I may be gearing towards beauty, self-care, and if I can do it well, travel.
From there I plan to grow my traffic.
SEO + Social Media
Which brings me to social media.
SEO and Pinterest are what drives clicks to my website and SEO is definitely something I am still working on.
I bought Debbie Gartner’s SEO bundle and from then I have been learning from her fountain of knowledge but I don’t think I’m doing as well as I had hoped.
On the same hand, I bought Carly Campbell’s Pinteresting Strategies course and even subscribed to her Pinterest Mastermind. I struggle to get much Pinterest traffic so I’m going to re-do her course and refresh my mind with the information I’m forgetting to do.
With Pinterest, I want to post new pins with the 2 posts I post weekly and then create new pins of older posts in order to get more images out into the algorithm.
Between the two courses, and information gleaned from them and others, I know that it’s important to be patient and wait at least 6 months before things start to make the rounds on both platforms.
Sucks, but it is what it is.
I’m not worried about Instagram or any other platform (even though some may think I should be), but I’m already overwhelmed.
Affiliate Links
I’m a current Amazon affiliate and if there’s one thing I want to try to help monetize my blog it’s getting clicks and payment from Amazon. So far, that hasn’t come to pass.
Therefore, I will try to learn more about how to encourage readers to click on my links.
I have a few resources I downloaded from this year’s BC Stack that I’ll make a point to work on this month.
Those resources were → Affiliate Superstar Toolkit 2.0 by Passive Income Superstars and Affiliate Marketing Strategies Guide by Tracie Fobes.
At least one post this month will have affiliate links.
Email Subscribers
I’m not working too hard on this. If I could get 1 person to sign up to my email newsletter (that I haven’t even started because I don’t have any subscribers 😂🌚) then I’ll be ecstatic.
I downloaded resources from BC Stack this year as well in the form of → Mastering Email Marketing by The Entrepreneur Hub (Kim Beasley).
Update Posts
I’d like to update a few posts with my own pictures (which means I need to actually do that).
If I can get through that it would be marvelous.
The problem is I’m no photographer so this should be interesting. 🥲
General Plan
If you want the “too long didn’t read” version (TL;DR) these are the goals I hope to attain next month.
- 2 posts weekly with at least one new pin for each (total of 8)
- “Update pins” on Pinterest with a new pin to an older post
- Create posts ahead of time for the week I’ll be gone
- Refresh knowledge on SEO + Pinterest
- Read through downloaded resources: Affiliate Marketing and Email Marketing
Here Goes Nothing Then!
There’s a YouTuber by the name of Patricia Bright who reminded me that if I allocate a specific amount of time to a task I can get it done in that time. This is my month to be efficient and effective and to prove to myself that I can do this.
Should be interesting to see what I get up to.
P.S. It’s Harry Potter’s birthday today! 😀
