This blog exists to help my audience of women who feel like they don’t have the time or the confidence to go out there and be fully themselves. In some cases, it might simply be that you just feel overwhelmed at wanting to have it all – how can I do all that while I still have to juggle my routines and my day-to-day.
This blog is designed to encourage you to be healthier, to help you when you’re scared to get started, and to show you love no matter what stage of the process you’re at.
Do you feel beaten down by your self-esteem when you look in the mirror? Do you feel like you just aren’t yourself anymore – walking around in a body that you want to take better care of, yet so comfortable in your bad habits that you lack the motivation to break them?
Like no matter how much you want to become the best version of yourself, you still feel lost as to where to start, and that makes you nervous to even begin?
Welcome to Lemonade + Adventure, the little corner of the web that hopes to push and encourage women to feel like they are worth their weight in gold, no matter where they are in their fitness and wellness journey.
Here’s what L+A offers our beautiful readers:
Table of Adventures
Encourage Healthier Lifestyle Choices
Each and every one of us has what it takes to thrive in the bodies that we are in. I am here to encourage you to keep on the journey to making healthier lifestyle choices, whatever that may mean for you.
This blog is meant to be a resource for those who find that they don’t know where to start, and who might be struggling to find that small bit of motivation to get the ball rolling, or even just those who want to feel welcomed into a community with like-minded women.
I am like you – I struggle at times to resist candy and junk food, and I sometimes groan and grumble on those mornings when I’m meant to spring out of bed and start my workout routine.
L + A is here to give all of us (myself included!) the push we all might need from time to time as we tackle our personal challenges.
So, whether your goal is to take more trips, or to broaden your food horizons, or if you’re struggling with finding the right fitness regimen to fit into your busy days, we’re here for you! We’re here to help you share that burden so that you can thrive in the everyday, and we’re also here for the cheat days, but those are okay too.
Help Instill Self-Esteem and Confidence
As women, we seem socially programmed to get down on ourselves all the time; comparing ourselves with others and self-consciously looking for ways that you come up short. I’m here to show you that you are beautiful and that you are loved.
I’m not a wellness coach or a therapist – I have no practice that I’m trying to steer you towards. I’m a woman who has been where a lot of you are and I understand just how hard it can be to simply be ourselves when the world around us has so many expectations.
Those feelings of discounting your self-worth, problems with your body image, and feeling like you haven’t progressed in your life… they’re even more potent now that we’ve been sitting in the middle of a pandemic for months, our routines shattered, binge-watching Netflix and missing all those old, healthy coping mechanisms that used to allow us to tackle the everyday stressors of life.
Remember gyms? I miss gyms …
All that… that’s why I’m here. We are going to make it through this, collectively, and you’re going to make it through whatever individual hurdles are on your path, and the reason I know this is because I’m going to be right there alongside you and I know you can do it. And I’ll make it through my hurdles, and hopefully watching me do that gives you some inspiration and confidence, too.
Provide Motivation and Help in Fitness, Food, and Travel
Pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zone is not an easy thing, and we all need a little help from time to time. Whether it’s starting a fitness journey, or starting a literal journey, traveling to a new place, or if it’s exploring new recipes or cuisine, this blog will bring you comforting, funny, and (hopefully) witty stories of me doing the same. Like how I can’t stand bananas and I’m trying to get over it.
So, as I look at different types of workout programs, maybe you’ll be in the middle of deciding which type would work the best for you. Do you want a digital program, like FitOn, or SWEAT app (or a bajillion others), or are you leaning more towards the regimen of your favorite Instagrammer?
Well… I’ll be trying a lot of them, so that you don’t have to buy their workout routines then realize you don’t even like it. I’ll be writing up reviews, first thoughts, and my general opinions about these types of programs so that you can be better informed.
On the travel front, I’ll be leaving tips about traveling, both solo and as a pair, as well as telling the stories of my own trips. This will, I hope, encourage you and give you the courage you need to stretch your wings, but also to do it safely, affordably, and confidently. The world is far too big to live complacently without giving it a try.
And, if you’re just here for the food, we’re going to have healthy recipes for you to enjoy, as well as fun treats for those days when you get to bend a rule or two. I’ll be mixing the ingredients up, so that if you’re a person that hates beets, or celery (or bananas… *shudder*), you can still find something else that will whet your appetite.
Provide Resources to Help You Live Your Best Fitness, Foodie, and Travel Journey
In addition to just providing my thoughts on these topics, I’m going to try to point you towards as many helpful resources as I can, so that you have a head start in figuring out for yourself what it is that works best for you.
I also welcome your thoughts, your comments, questions, and emails, because that’s going to let me connect all of you with each other. If your feedback on a particular post leads me to make a post that addresses your questions, then that’s you, the L + A community, helping each other, and that, in itself, would be a dream come true for me.
I’ve tried my hand at a fair bit of everything and I love to dabble in things, so hopefully my multifarious adventures will help give you a little guidance as you push your own boundaries, but hearing about me doing something is never going to give you quite the same experience as doing it yourself, in your own way.
So there will be new resource articles coming out to help you navigate your own adventures.
Write a Weekly Blog Post to Help Women on Their Journey
I know the importance of small routines that help keep you on track and moving forward – I’ll be talking a lot about little routines and habits you can get into in future posts, but I’m going to lead by a simple example.
In order to give everyone something to look forward to (including me!), I’m going to be writing weekly blog posts just to check in and keep myself accountable. Hopefully, that regularity helps us all start building some positive momentum.
You never know the kind of progress you can accomplish by just committing to one thing and sticking to it!
Closing Up Shop
This little spot on the big world wide web is for all of us women to feel connected to each other through fitness, food, and travel. It exists to encourage the better in all of us and to help us with the motivation, self-esteem, and confidence that we need to be successful in these everyday journeys.
Hopefully, the resources here will help you on your path, no matter where it takes you.
So, I hope you stick around. Grab a glass of lemonade. And let’s go on an adventure!
